Adding keyword rich content to an established site

Published by htlewis at 11:48 pm under keywords Edit This

The first thing that has to be said is that if you are not entirely, 100% sure of what the title of this article means then you need to go back through my categories to read up on keywords. Keywords are so important for Search Engine Optimization that they cannot be overstated. But what if you already have an established blog or site? What if you have been publishing away for days, weeks, months or even years and have never stopped to consider how Search Engines will read your site and understand the subject matter? Is it too late? Is all lost?

No! Search Engine Optimization is never a lost cause, although the more random keyword content on your site, the longer it will take to rank on your keyword searches.

To do I salvage my existing site for Search Engine Optimization using Keywords?

The first thing that you need to do is to stop and think about what search someone would do on an Search Engine in order to want to find your site. These should be your keywords.

It is best if some or all of your keywords appear in your URL - take this site for example searchengineoptimization.today.com - you can see that the term Search Engine Optimization appears in the URL. This is a good thing and will certainly help with Search Engine rankings.

But this is wishful thinking. If you have not given much thought to keywords and Search Engine Optimization then it will be unlikely that your URL will be keyword rich.

Assuming that your site is already built the way you want, then all that remains is to adjust the content. I have written some good articles on keyword frequency, keyword positioning etc which will take you through all that you need to know.
