The importance of frequent posting for SEO

Published by htlewis at 11:47 am under article writing, updates Edit This

One of the keys to getting your website or blog up the rankings of Search Engines is to update the content regularly. This is one of the reasons why Blogs have really taken off recently is that they have a system that lends itself to being frequently updated.

For a new site I would recommend updating content daily – at least. On my most recent website – The Writing Mercenary – I posted 38 times in the first 20 days of activity. This is perhaps more than you need for Search Engine Optimization purposes, overkill you could say, but it did the job. By day 20 my site was on the first page of Google. This is quite the result, would you not agree?

Frequent posting is a way to pole vault your site up the listings initially. This posting frequency does need to be somewhat maintained for your position to be secure. With a blog however, daily posting is advisable for the first few months regardless of your desire for Search Engine Optimization.

Web sites are not so well adjusted for frequent updates, with this I recommend doing as much as you can.  Frequent posting is not an absolute necessity, but it will dramatically help your ranking with Search Engines.

Remember that the Search Engines are looking for fresh new content, so when they see that your site is prone to frequent updates then they will crawl your site more frequently. This means that you will have more pages listed more quickly. This can only be a good thing for Search Engine Optimization.

A final note is to remember to follow all the advice I have given on Keywords on your postings. Every article that you write should be keyword rich, within the parameters that I have set out. This will have the added affect of making sure that all you post is relevant for your site, as well as boosting your Search Engine Optimization
